The Village Girl Initiative (VGI) is a Not for Profit Charity set up to empower women & girls in rural villages & communities in The Gambia (West Africa).
Their mission is to bring an end and to completely eradicate Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in the rural villages and communities in The Gambia – West Africa, where it is widely practiced; changing hearts by empowering women and girls with resources through education, provision of free, quality and accessible healthcare services and community base sensation programs and healing based support programs for survivors.
Their current priorities are
1. Free, quality and accessible healthcare services to the rural villages and communities in the Gambia, through Free Wellness Clinics.
2. Completely eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in rural villages and communities in The Gambia, where the act is highly practice covertly.
3. Empower village girls and women attain education with provision of resources, scholarships, sensitization programs, seminars, workshops and summer camps.
