Skye Bank Gambia limited in partnership with The Gambia’s Safe Haven Foundation held an Infertility Awareness campaign on 14th October 2017, with a walk from Traffic lights along Kairaba Avenue to West field monument.
Safe Haven has a vision to ensure the Gambian community has increase awareness on misconceptions surrounding issues of infertility and to help create a platform for women to share experiences with a view to getting the required help, guidance and counselling from experts in the area.
The event that was characterized by dancing and singing from members of the foundation and staff of Skye Bank Gambia was fully supported by Skye Bank Gambia under the leadership of their Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Adedoyin Adegbulugbe.
He said childlessness is terrible enough for a woman not to talk of the additional pressures, name-calling and stigmatization and victimization from in-laws, family, friends and society. He said the objective of Skye Bank in this course is to support Safe Haven Foundation to change the mindset of the people from victims stigmatization to focusing on resolving the issue and also encouraging and standing by the victims while the situations lasts.
The purpose of the Safe Haven Campaign is to create public awareness about infertility issues, how to get help and advocacy against stigmatization and/or victimization of people with infertility issues.
The walk is a symbol of walking with and standing by people with infertility issues as Safe Haven Foundation believes no one with infertility challenges should walk alone.
