Dimbayaa fertility project is deeply committed to provide all the primary and ancillary services related to infertility counseling, diagnosis and treatment to the people of The Gambia in West Africa.
Our Mission
We aim to provide for infertility support and help make infertility care in all its aspects; standardized counseling, diagnosis and treatment including Artificial Reproductive techniques (ART) such as Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) and Low cost In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), available and affordable for all people in Africa.
At Africmed Medical Services, Brusubi the Gambia we developed a program for infertility care, providing counseling, standardized diagnosis and treatment; currently being ovulation induction and IUI (intra uterine insemination). In the near future we hope to expand these services to cryopreservation (freezing) of semen and low cost IVF.
We strive to develop educational outreach programs on infertility awareness and prevention on four fronts: Traditional women’s groups; the Kanyaleng, Schools & Youth Organisations, Health Centers & Clinics and Established Women’s Organisations.
We aim to develop outreach programs on infertility awareness and prevention. Prevention should cover both primary prevention; sexual education of young people on how to avoid STD’s, as well as secondary prevention; early and appropriate diagnosis and treatment of STD’s.
We see this in the form of educational programs combined with low threshold mobile clinics, both in urban and rural areas. In order to reach out to women of all backgrounds and levels of education, we hope to work with local women’s groups such as the Kanyaleng.
We aim to strengthen fertility awareness and care throughout West Africa, through advocacy and networking and promoting research from medical, socio economical and anthropological disciplines.
We raise funding, sponsorship and donations for sexual en reproductive health projects in the Gambia and the region.
We aim to provide for:
Awareness – Infertility is neglected health issue in Africa
Education – Demystifying the causes of infertility
Prevention – Early diagnosis and treatment of infections that can cause infertility
Counseling and Support – For individuals struggling with infertility
Diagnosis and Treatment – Available and affordable for all
